The RRN has published the study "Business Niches and Employment Sources for Young People in Rural Areas" and two publications on best practices: from local councils and the PDR-PNDR.

  • Both compilations cover cases of good practices in rural municipalities and good practices implemented by the regional and national Rural Development Programmes (RDPs).
  • The National Rural Network (RRN) compiles examples of good practices carried out in rural Spain in order to serve as inspiration for other people and entities.

For the past two years, the National Rural Development Network (NRN) has focused its action plan on promoting and highlighting the fundamental role that rural youth play in the future of rural areas. To this end, the "Youth and Rural Environment" Thematic Group was created in 2021 , made up of 39 rural experts with diverse backgrounds (academic, institutional, scientific, associative, rural residents, etc.) and with broad representation from national territories.

As a culmination of the many activities aimed at them, the RRN has published the publication "Business Niches and Employment Sources for Young People in Rural Areas . "

This study explores job opportunities, employment, and entrepreneurship for the younger population in rural Spain. This analysis of market niches and job opportunities was developed using big data and scientific databases over the last five years and is authored by academic authorities in economics from the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid, the University of La Rioja, and the London School of Economics.

Good Practices

A good practice — as defined by the European CAP Network — is a strategy, programme, project, procedure or management and implementation practice that meets the following characteristics:

  • It has been tested and validated and has been implemented with positive results.
  • It is successful and innovative .
  • It can be developed and adapted to other contexts, that is, it is transferable .
  • It contributes to the improvement of your performance.

The National Rural Network (RRN) compiles examples of good practices implemented in rural Spain to serve as inspiration for others. These examples also serve as a way to share experiences and learn from the successes, obstacles, and mistakes of similar projects. These good practices can be found in the following viewer .

Within this context, the RRN has just published two publications:

  1.   “From local to global: Best practices of rural municipalities” :

This publication contains 30 best practices that have been developed in as many rural municipalities throughout Spain and have improved the lives of their residents at the social, cultural, associative, and economic levels. These successful initiatives are a model of commitment to the future of their towns and can serve as an inspiration for similar initiatives in other regions.

  1. “Compilation of good practices from the Regional and National Rural Development Programs for the period 2014-2020” :

Compilation of various projects for the creation or improvement of businesses and companies in rural areas : good practices carried out by women and men who have received financial support through the different regional Rural Development Programs (RDP) or the National Rural Development Program (PNDR) , during the period 2014 - 2020.
