Strengthening female leadership in the agricultural sector is essential for advancing greater equity and representation of women in decision-making structures. In this regard, since the PEPAC , all Member States have identified the need to "promote the inclusion of women in decision-making bodies linked to the agricultural sector," as reflected in Specific Objective OE8. Need 13 of the PEPAC.
This workshop aims to address the need identified by public authorities, as reflected in the needs assessment for PEPAC's OE8, to increase women's representation in decision-making bodies, thereby promoting more inclusive, sustainable, and equitable rural development.
The workshop combines theoretical and practical tools designed to strengthen participation, leadership, and communication skills, with a gender perspective framed within organizations in the agri-food sector.
Goals
The overall objective of the workshop is to foster and enhance the leadership skills of rural women to promote their access to the governing bodies of companies in the agricultural sector.
The specific objectives of the workshop will be:
Expand knowledge of the power dynamics that operate in groups and organizations.
Strengthen the leadership skills and abilities of women in the agricultural sector, in relation to communication and negotiation skills, focused on their active participation in the agricultural sector.
Identify the cultural and structural difficulties that exist for women's participation in decision-making bodies in the agricultural sector.
Share experiences with other women in the sector and generate synergies to create a support network.
The workshop will increase women's ability to influence decisions and strategies that directly affect activity in the sector.
Mode
The workshop will be held in a hybrid format (in-person and online ) and will consist of a total of five training sessions, lasting a total of 25 hours.
Module I: Women's participation in the agricultural sector.
Module II: Conscious communication and personal leadership.
Module III: Conflict management.
Module IV: Effective meetings and negotiation.
Module V: In-person meeting in Madrid.
The first four sessions will be held online , and the final session will be held in person in Madrid, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food.
Organizes
This workshop is organized by the PAC Network, part of the Subdirectorate General for Agricultural Policy Planning, in collaboration with the Subdirectorate General for Rural Environment Promotion, both under the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAPA).
Target audience
This course is aimed at women farmers and ranchers interested in actively participating in decision-making bodies of cooperatives and/or other organizations such as public procurement agencies, regulatory councils, irrigation communities, private sector organizations, sectoral organizations, etc.
